What Makes PAA Different....

At PAA, we believe that every student is special, and that building solid relationships between teachers and students is the foundation of learning. Our students feel at home with their teachers, which creates a positive learning environment.
The Story began in 1991, in the basement of a church in Montclair, with 25 students and a dream. Continue reading about our story

In Memory of Sienna Maloney

Donate

The Performing Arts Academy family is heartbroken over the tragic loss of one of our littlest dancers, Sienna Maloney, earlier this week. Although her life was cut far too short, her star shone bright and she touched so many lives in the brief time that she was with us. There are no words that can lessen this devastating loss, but we wish to extend our deepest condolences to Sienna's family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as we all grieve.

A donation page has been set up to assist the Maloney family with expenses; please click the button above if you are inclined and able to give. Rest in peace, sweet girl.

Student Success Stories

Imagine Your Pre-Schooler....

Our Pre-K classes are 60 minutes long, which includes a half an hour of ballet and a half an hour of tap. Instruction is offered in a fun way that gets our littlest dancers excited about dance. Pre-K students need pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes, as well as a dance bag big enough to hold both pairs of shoes. Students may wear any color leotard and tights.

Or Maybe Some Hip Hop....

Hip hop dance is a modern fusion between jazz and street dancing. This is the style of dance frequently featured in music videos. High energy moves are combined with high energy music, and hip hop includes a wide range of movements, including breaking, locking, and popping. This popular, fun, and energetic form of dance is one of the few disciplines in which personal style and creativity are considered to be very important.

How About Some Acro?

In this class, the focus is on balance, agility, and coordination. Students practice gymnastic floor exercises, while increasing their flexibility and improving their endurance. Acro can be found in many of the performing arts, as well as in sports. Dancers learn jumps, leaps, and splits, as well as tricks done on mats, including cartwheels, handsprings, backbends, etc.
